The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWL) has announced that the challenges currently being experienced by GRIDCo have led to temporary interruptions in its water supply, affecting some communities.
In a statement released on July 29, 2026, GWL explained that its water production systems, which rely on electricity supply, are not operational, resulting in an inability to produce and distribute potable water to customers in the affected areas.
GWL expressed its sincere apologies to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused, stating that the situation was out of its control.
GWL, however, assured the public that production and distribution would resume immediately once stable electricity is restored, and that the situation is being closely monitored to ensure the earliest possible resumption.
Ghana Water Company Limited (GWL) is the sole government-owned water utility in Ghana, responsible for producing, transmitting, and distributing potable water in urban areas nationwide.
