Ghana is set to host the 60th Annual General Meetings of the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), from Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31, 2026.
The event is being held under the theme “Accelerating Africa’s Electricity Market Integration: Advancing Regulatory Readiness, Regional Market Development and Strategic Partnerships,” by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition in collaboration with the Volta River Authority, Bui Power Authority, Ghana Grid Company, the Electricity Company of Ghana, and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company will be held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra .
This year’s edition of the event is expected to convene approximately two hundred Chief Executive Officers, Managing Directors, General Managers, Technical Directors, and industry experts from APUA member organisations, as well as representatives of African and international institutions collaborating with APUA.
Organisers say the week-long event will provide an important platform for strategic dialogue, thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and the strengthening of partnerships aimed at addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities within Africa’s electricity sector and energy markets.
Key activities during the meetings will include the Ordinary General Assembly, the APUA CEOs’ Governance and Leadership Forum, the African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM) Forum, the ANCEE Steering Committee Informative Meeting, and the APUA, IRENA and UNEZA Capacity Building Session on Energy Transition and Renewable Energy.
The Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), formerly known as the Union des Producteurs, Transporteurs et Distributeurs d’Energie Electrique en Afrique (UPDEA), is an association of 57 active members, as well as affiliate, associate and observer members aimed at uniting electricity sector leaders to improve power access and reliability across Africa. It was created in 1970, with headquarters in Abidjan, in Côte d’Ivoire.
