GACL to Shut Terminal 3 Car Park for New 7-Storey Complex; Redirects Users to Annex Parking

Ghana Airports Company Limited has announced the closure of its existing Car Park at Terminal 3 of the Accra International Airport (AIA), effective Monday, 20th July 2026. According to GACL, this is meant to pave way for the construction of a new seven-storey Multi-Purpose Car Park and Airport Hotel Complex meant to replace the old one. In view of the ongoing construction,GACL added that is relocating the Terminal 3 Car Park, with travellers expected to now use the Terminal Terminal 3 Car Park Annex which currently has a parking capacity of 600+ vehicles. GACL also added that it has made provision to ensure that travelers and users of the airport are assisted by Parking attendants during this transition period. Ghana Airports Company Limited then called for full cooperation and understanding of all travelers and users of the airport to ensure a smooth transition and effective use of the airport.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Announces Mandatory Health Declaration for Sierra Leone Travel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a major update to its international travel guidelines. In a travel advisory released on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Ministry announced plans by the Government of Sierra Leone to implement a health declaration for all persons traveling into and from Sierra Leone. The Ministry also noted that in the implementation of this new policy which takes effect from 18th June 2026, all Ghanaian citizens intending to travel to Sierra Leone are urged to abide by the new entry requirements. By this information, the Sierra Leonean authorities are cautioning travellers to take note of the following: • Providing false, inaccurate, or misleading information may result in delays, denial of entry or departure clearance, or additional health screening procedures. • Anyone feeling unwell before, during or after travel should immediately report to a Point of Entry Health Officer and seek medical attention. • Information provided through the portal will be used to support disease surveillance, prevention, and public health security measures and will be handled confidentially in accordance with applicable data protection requirements. • Upon arrival in Sierra Leone, travellers may be subject to health screening and other public health measures as deemed necessary by authorities. • Travellers are expected to cooperate fully with health officials and other relevant authorities throughout their journey. The advisory however stated that all categories of travelers including Ghanaian citizens, foreign nationals, residents, and visitors are expected to register online to ensure a smooth journey. The Ministry also encouraged the travellers to finalize the requirements of the portal in a timely manner and also reiterated its efforts for supporting the regional public health security measures. GCAA Opens Investigation into Alleged Mistreatment of KLM Passengers Bound for Accra

  The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has commenced an investigation into the alleged mistreatment of passengers aboard KLM Flight KL059, which was scheduled to arrive in Accra from Amsterdam on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The Authority in a statement released on Sunday, June 28, 2026 revealed that it had taken note with concern of videos circulating on social media showing stranded passengers expressing dissatisfaction over their treatment by KLM in Amsterdam, in connection with the said flight. The GCAA stated that as Ghana’s aviation regulator either the mandate of ensuring safety, security, and consumer protection, it has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the reported tarmac delay and the alleged mistreatment of some passengers. The Authority further stated that it will treat the issue with all fairness and by engaging all relevant stakeholders and communicate the outcome of the investigation, where appropriate, in accordance with established regulatory procedures. The GCAA then added that it remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of passengers and the maintenance of high standards of service within the aviation sector.

DVLA cautions public against fake SMS payment links and online fine scams.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has warned the public against scammers posing as the Authority and sending fake fines to unwitting members of the public. In a statement released on June 10,2026,the Authority explained that the scammers send SMS messages containing links that redirect recipients to fake platforms, where they are asked to pay supposed DVLA fines sometimes with claims of discounts or urgent payment deadlines. The DVLA warned that these messages are fake and should be ignored by the general public. The Authority also stated that they barely provide discounts on fines and that any SMS, web, platform or individual claiming to provide discount on DVLA fines should be regarded a fraud. It also reminded the public that the only acceptable online payment gateway for DVLA transactions is the Government of Ghana’s official payment platform at https://www.Ghana.gov.gh, and that its official website remains www.dvla.gov.gh. Members of the public who receive such suspicious messages are encouraged to report them to the nearest DVLA office or the appropriate law enforcement agency.

Ghana Advises Against Non-Essential Travel To South Africa Amid Xenophobic Attacks

  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ghana has advised against non essential travel to South Africa amid ongoing xenophobia attacks on other African nationals. In a Statement issued on Monday,June 1,2026, the Ministry explained the necessity of the move highlighting the increasing xenophobic attacks in South Africa targeted at Africans by groups presenting themselves as anti-immigrant vigilantes which has in some cases resulted in degrees of injuries, closure and takeover of businesses, looting and loss of properties. The Ministry added the latest move adds to several safety measures put in place by the government to ensure the well being of Ghanaians amid the ongoing attacks. The Ministry also urged Ghanaian nationals in the country to maintain regular contact with the Ghana High Commission for consular services. It furthered called on the Government of the Republic of South Africa to provide adequate security for targeted groups of Africans in its territory and take measures to enforce law and order in the spirit of genuine Pan-Africanism and African integration. The Ministry then reassured the public about its commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Ghanaian nationals home and abroad.

Ghana Deepens Asia Ties With landmark South Korea Visa Agreement

The Government of Ghana has announced an agreement with the government of South Korea which will see to a historic visa waiver agreement for holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports . In a post made on X by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ghana, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa explained that this is the first agreement of its kind in the two countries’ nearly 50 years of formal bilateral relations. The Minister added that this move come after the working visit of President Mahama to South Korea in March this year and was signed in the margins of the ongoing Africa-Korea Foreign Ministers Meeting. He further added that discussions are still in place to extend the Visa Waiver to Holders of Ordinary Passports. He then expressed his commitment to delivering on the key priorities announced by President Mahama in his reset agenda.

Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Debunks Fake Notice on Cambodian Immigration Crackdown Against Africans

Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed as fake a widely circulating notice purportedly issued by the Government of Cambodia, ordering African nationals including Ghanaians, Kenyans, Cameroonians, and Ugandans to leave the country by 31st May, 2026 or face arrest, imprisonment, and financial penalties. In a press release dated 29th May, 2026, the Ministry said following diplomatic engagements with the relevant Cambodian authorities, it had been confirmed that the said notice was not issued by any state institution in Cambodia. The clarification is further backed by the General Department of Immigration of Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior, which in a separate press statement issued from Phnom Penh on the same date, described reports that Cambodia had ordered Africans with expired immigration waivers to leave by May 31st, 2026 as “completely untrue.” The Cambodian immigration authority traced the false reports to two websites — campaigneronline.com and newsghana.com. Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged the public and the Ghanaian media to disregard the discredited document and refrain from sharing unverified information capable of generating unnecessary fear and anxiety among affected persons and their families. The Ministry, however, disclosed that some Ghanaian nationals resident in Cambodia had independently expressed a desire to return home prior to the circulation of the fake notice. Through Ghana’s High Commission in Malaysia, which is concurrently accredited to Cambodia, the government has already facilitated the evacuation of 85 Ghanaian nationals between March and May 2026, with arrangements ongoing to repatriate an additional 76 who have also expressed a wish to return. The Ministry commended the Government of Cambodia for its cooperation and urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information concerning Ghanaian nationals abroad.

Ghana Foreign Affairs Ministry Alerts Travellers as EU Rolls Out New Entry Control System

Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged Ghanaian travellers to the European Union and Schengen Area to take note of a new automated border control system now being rolled out across European borders. In a public statement issued on Wednesday, April 9, 2026, the Ministry announced the gradual implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES), established under Regulation (EC) No. 2017/2226 of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. The EES, which began its rollout on October 12, 2025, is designed to replace the traditional manual passport stamping process at Schengen borders, with full implementation expected by tomorrow April 10, 2026. The statement explained that the system automatically records the entry and exit data of non-EU nationals including Ghanaians travelling on short-stay visas each time they cross the external borders of Schengen Member States with data collected under the system including facial images, fingerprints, travel document details, as well as information on entry, exit dates and any refusal of entry. The Ministry noted however that the system does not apply to all travellers as Non-EU nationals holding residence cards or permits, holders of long-stay visas, accredited diplomats, heads of state, cross-border workers, NATO military personnel travelling on official business and holders of local border traffic permits are among those exempted from EES registration. The Ministry then urged Ghanaian nationals travelling to the EU and Schengen Area to familiarise themselves with the new system ahead of their travel with further details accessible at https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees.

Dodowa–Afienya–Dawhenya Road Project 35% Complete

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced that the reconstruction of the Dodowa–Afienya–Dawhenya Road, along with selected town roads, has reached 35% completion following a recent inspection by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza. The project, which commenced on 5th December 2025, according to the Ministry is currently ahead of schedule and is expected to be completed by 4th December 2027. Upon completion, the upgraded road will serve as a vital transport link between key communities including Dodowa, Afienya, and Dawhenya. The corridor is also expected to significantly enhance the movement of goods and services, particularly between Accra and surrounding districts. The Ministry also added that once completed the project is expected to include the following key components: • Construction of a 24.8 km single carriageway asphaltic concrete road with shoulders and walkways • Development of 4 km of dual carriageways at major junctions in Dodowa, Afienya, and Dawhenya • A 40-metre span, 4-lane concrete bridge over the River Detsedor at Afienya • An additional bridge structure at chainage 9+540 (8m x 4m, 30m slab with reinforced walls) • Installation of 8 major box culverts and 28 pipe culverts • Construction of 28.7 km of concrete U-drains of varying sizes With Additional works including: • A 550m storm drainage system (1.6m x 1.3m) • A 40m-long, 8m x 4m concrete-lined outfall channel           Following the inspection,Kwame Agbodza expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and the pace of progress and commended the contractor, Oswal Investment Group, for their commitment and urged them to maintain the current momentum to ensure timely completion for the benefit of residents and road users. The Dodowa–Afienya–Dawhenya Road Project forms part of the Government’s Big Push agenda aimed at improving the country’s road sector.

VIP JEOUN Transport Increases Fare Prices Effective April 8,2026.

The Management and VIP JEOUN Transport has announced an increase in fare prices effective, Wednesday, April 8, 2026. In a post made on Facebook, Management explained that this decision is long overdue and should have been taken on March 14,2025 but was suspended after consideration on March 18,2025. The Transport company added that this is going to be the first time in 2 years since the company last revised its prices. Speaking to the media, the General Manager , Adakabri Frimpong Manso stated that although it is yet to convene a meeting with the company’s stakeholders after a meeting with the minister earlier today, the decision to increase prices still stands as at now. “Together with my director, Mr. Kusi, we have met up with the minister. The minister has delivered a message, and we have to go and convene a meeting, an extraordinary meeting of all directors, and then take it from there. But yes, it is true that we have announced price increases, and those price increases are on the board.We will still await what the president has got to tell us. But then, what we have already announced stands. But then, we will communicate to the directors what the transport minister has said.” Adakabri said He added that he is optimistic that what comes out from that meeting will put the company in “…a situation where the company will be strong economically, profitably, and then reinvest into the fleet so that we can serve the teaming, travelling public.” The price increases is expected to affect but Standard Tours and Executive Coaches.
