The Chairman of Parliament’s Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has commended the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) for its financial turnaround, moving from a GH¢20 million debt position to over GH¢96 million in profit in the 2025 financial year.
Speaking during a working visit to NAFCO’s regional office in Kumasi, Dr. Jasaw praised the company’s efforts to strengthen its operations and provide logistics for its regional offices.

“We are impressed to see that you provided logistics for your regional offices. This is going to have a huge contribution to our food system management.“he stated
He, however, urged NAFCO to introduce a business-oriented approach to its operations to attract partnerships and investments to support the company’s infrastructure needs.
“And so what we will add is that you need to think of introducing a business angle into your operation, to see to what extent you can make a case for partnerships and investments.” he added
Dr. Jasaw noted that government alone may not have sufficient resources to finance the infrastructure required by NAFCO, given the high cost involved.
“Government does not have enough financing to be able to support the infrastructure that you need, as you appreciate the cost is high. But we can demonstrate that the dividends can be positive for everybody.” he emphasized
He further assured NAFCO that government would consider providing equity support to expand its operations as the company continues to restore confidence through audited financial reporting.
