Director of the Communications Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Julie Kozack, has stated that bond markets are functioning in an orderly manner globally.
Briefing the press yesterday ahead of the 2026 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, Kozack explained that despite mounting inflationary pressure globally, bond markets are still functioning well.

“What we see globally is that bond markets are continuing to function in an orderly manner,” she stated.
Kozack also noted that while the broader global economy has been quite resilient so far, the Fund remains cautious about certain divergences that could weigh it down.
“At the same time, we have seen that the global economy has been actually quite resilient, and that’s because of these two opposing forces. We have the negative energy shock, but we also have the kind of positive impetus from the AI investment boom. So, at the aggregate level, the global economy is kind of holding up, but beneath the surface, we are still very concerned about the divergences that I talked about in the beginning,” she emphasised.
On the impact of the recent decision by the United States and China to lower tariffs on $30 billion worth of products will have on the global economy, Kozack explained that the move would help enhance predictability in the trading environment.
“This is important because it helps enhance the predictability of the trading environment, and that’s an important achievement,” she added.
This briefing comes ahead of the 2026 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, which are expected to take place in Bangkok in the next 10 days.
