GoldBod to Generate US$1.4bn in Foreign Exchange in September 2026

The Ghana GoldBod has announced that it will generate US$1.4 billion in foreign exchange in September 2026, with US$700.0 million to be made available to commercial banks to support foreign exchange market stability.

In a statement released on August 31, 2026,GoldBod added that it will also support the Bank of Ghana with US$700 million for reserve accumulation.

This comes after a new collaborative financing model was agreed for GoldBod’s artisanal and small-scale mining gold operations earlier last month, following talks with the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Ghana, commercial banks, and other market stakeholders.

This will be the second time since the agreement that this has been done, following a direct sale of US$668.21 million to commercial banks and the provision of US$646.59 million to the Bank of Ghana in August 2026.

GoldBod reiterated its commitment to its statutory mandate of generating foreign exchange for Ghana while ensuring transparency across the process.
