The Ministry of Finance has announced a successful completion of Ghana’s IMF bailout program following the disbursement of the final tranche of funds by the fund.
In a statement released on July 27, 2026 the ministry added that the country is expected to receive an additional US$371 million from the IMF’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program bringing its total receipts under the programme to US$3 billion.
According to the ministry, the successful completion of the program highlights the progress the country has made with regard to economic stability.
The Ministry however added that the completion of it’s ECF program with the IMF doesn’t mark an end to the assistance it will receive from the fund pointing out that it will continue engagement with the fund through a 36-month, non-bailout Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI).
It added that the PCI program the country will undertake is necessary to ensure confidence in the country’s economic policies while also supporting the government’s reform agenda.
The Ministry of Finance proceeded to acknowledge all stakeholders involved in the coordination of the program whiles also expressing its commitment towards building a stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous economy for all Ghanaians.
The just ended IMF program which has been successfully concluded began in May 2023 following the 2022 economic crisis under the previous administration.
