The Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange, Abena Amoah, has stated that Ghana’s debt capital market has made meaningful progress, following improvements in macroeconomic conditions.
She made this statement at the inaugural Debt Capital Markets Conference organised by Fidelity Bank in Accra.

Highlighting the remarkable performance of the GSE, Amoah stated that investor confidence is returning, with improved liquidity in the fixed income and equities markets
“Ghana’s debt capital market has made meaningful progress. Economic conditions have improved. Investor confidence is returning.Liquidity as we are running the fixed income market and the equities market, we are beginning to see this re-enter.” Abena Amoah stated.
Abena Amoah, however, said recovery should not be the destination, calling for a deeper, broader, and more transparent market that better serves issuers and investors.
“But recovery alone is not the destination. For us, the next task is to build a market that is deeper, broader, more transparent, more useful to both issuers and investors,” she added.
The Fidelity Bank Debt Capital Markets Conference 2026 was held under the theme “Lower Rates, Higher Opportunity: Unlocking Growth Through the Debt Capital Markets,” and brought together policymakers, institutional investors, and market regulators to discuss turning macroeconomic stability into long-term investment capital.
