DVLA Dismisses Misleading Reports on Overseas Services Rollout

The Management of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has urged the public to disregard misleading news headlines over the extended services of DVLA to selected foreign countries.

In a statement released on February 26,2026, the Authority clarified that through an arrangement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs it aims to provide selected services including International Driver’s Permit and Driver’s Licence Renewal to qualified Ghanaian citizens residing in others countries, with the pilot phase to be undertaken in the United States of America, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands and the High Commission of the United Kingdom.

DVLA also announced that this arrangement also trains and work with embassies abroad so people can handle their licence or vehicle documents through the embassy instead of travelling to Ghana.

DVLA also debunked the narrative that, the DVLA would post its domestic staff to work at Embassies in the aforementioned countries.

The Authority went ahead to express its commitment to serving the interest of Ghanaians and encouraged the media and individuals who require clarity or information on its operations to approach the Corporate Affairs Department for such details to avoid such misleading reportage.
